dream a little dream of me

(for a much better experience, listen to Ella Fitzgerald’s “Dream A Little Dream Of Me” while slowly reading this whole post).

it was a peaceful afternoon. we were sitting in a still boat down by the lake, watching the sun sets. the golden rays gleamed your eyes as they were smiling to mine. i could finally feel the warmth of the chilly summer air—the second thing i’ve been longing for after being close to you.
the sky was getting darker, yet not a single word had left our lips. all they did were just keeping a meaningful smirks. deep inside we both knew what we wanted: my cherry lips pressed to yours as well as your warm body to mine.
you started to lay down while your eyes were still locked to mine. if only the look you gave could say anything, it would be something like an invitation. slowly, i moved towards you and placed my head in my favorite spot—your chest. then you sighed, as if this was what you’ve been wanting all along.
your stroked my hair as i lightly wrapped my body to yours. our fingers intertwined—and they fitted perfectly just like they were made for each other. it was quiet and peaceful. it was the moment when we both wished the time would stop, keeping it from moving forward...
and somehow it did, as i fall asleep to the sound of your heartbeat.
